Getting started with the HelpBento API (keys, auth, rate limits)

An overview of HelpBento's public REST API: authentication, rate limits, and where to start.

HelpBento exposes a public REST API under /v1 for managing content and support requests programmatically.

Authentication

Every request authenticates with an API key (see Create & scope API keys), sent as a header on each call.

Availability & rate limits

The API requires a plan that includes it. Each company has a rate ceiling on requests, so build in reasonable retry/backoff behavior for high-volume use.

A quick first call

GET /v1/me returns details about the authenticated company and key, a good first call to confirm your key works before building anything further.

See The OpenAPI spec for the HelpBento API for a machine-readable spec you can feed into your own tooling.
